There's been a lot of talk about self-care these days. As anxiety and depression have increased, being mindful of your own needs is more important than ever. When you unwind and slow down, you are able to better cope with the daily grind. Decreasing stress also means relieving skin issues and lowering the risk of health problems.

And let's clear up this misunderstanding: practicing self-care isn't selfish. You are doing what you need to do to manage daily stressors in life and take care of your well-being. If anything, it helps you support the people in your life. When you take care of yourself and are not stressed, you are better able to meet the needs of others.

So what are you doing to stay physically, mentally, and emotionally well? Here are 5 free fun ideas that we love!

1) Hang out with your dog or cat. Did you know petting animals releases "feel good" hormones like dopamine and serotonin? Studies also show it lowers your blood pressure, too!
